Structural Strengthening
Structural strengthening is a process that improves the performance and strength of existing structures. It can increase a structure’s load-bearing capacity, making it able to support additional loads or meet changing needs. Structural strengthening can also help structures withstand natural disasters like earthquakes, hurricanes, and floods.

Structural strengthening can be necessary for a number of reasons, including: Building codes, Changes in building use, Deterioration or degradation, and Design and/or construction errors.
Some methods of structural strengthening include:
- Enlarging the cross section
- Adding reinforcement
- Prestressing
- Changing the force transmission path
- Changing the stress system
- Sticking steel
- Clad steel
- Sticking carbon fiber
